By LEE HANNAHAPALEKThe career of a marketer is a unique one, said former CEO of marketing-consulting firm odu Marketing, and it is the most lucrative one of all.
In fact, the U.S. has a market for about three times the number of people in the workforce than all other developed countries combined.
Odu Marketing was founded by former marketing executives from the likes of Xerox, Deloitte, and UBS.
The company, which now boasts more than 1,200 employees across the country, has been called the “worlds largest marketing agency.”
“This is a highly competitive industry and one that requires a lot of experience,” said Scott W. Bock, an associate professor of marketing at the University of Iowa and the author of the new book, “The Art of Marketing: From Sales to Content Marketing.”
Marketers need to know their niche, understand the types of ads that are popular and have an understanding of the audience.
“If you have to do all of that in the space of just a few years, you will probably not make it,” Bock said.
Bock said that a marketers job is to be “in the know,” and the most important thing is to know what your target audience wants.
To become a marketing professed, the company says a prospective professor needs to have a solid understanding of their niche.
As an odu, you have an “expertise in the markets you are in, your own expertise and what works and doesn’t work in your industry,” Bong said.
You also need to be able to “put in the hours and get the results you are looking for,” Buck said.
Bong said marketing-coaches have a responsibility to their clients to help them understand how to sell more effectively.
“You’re looking to become an effective marketing manager and a good salesperson, and this is a very challenging job,” he said.
The position can be very competitive, with salaries starting at $70,000.
But it can pay off if you can stay on top of the trends and have the right mindset, Bong explained.
The most important aspect of the job is the ability to build a rapport with customers, Bock added.
A marketer needs to know how to present the customer to the client, whether they are a potential client or a potential advertiser.
You must also have the ability and willingness to be a “marketer on steroids,” he added.
If you’re looking for a job that pays $100,000 or more per year, Bang said the most likely path to the top of a company is as a marketing director, though he added that many marketing directors are looking to be more hands-on and lead a team.
The average salary for a marketing-counseling professed in the U, and one of the highest in the world, is $90,000, according to a study published in the American Journal of Marketing.
But if you’re interested in the profession, Bunk said he would suggest applying to a school like Odu Marketing.
