A new report has found that in the UK, more than half of all professionals are self-employed, but not everyone is making a profit.

The study, commissioned by the Society for Professional Development, found that just 17 per cent of business professionals are in a position to make a profit, with the rest making less than £20,000 a year.

And it says the UK has the highest rate of self-employment among developed countries.

While there is a growing recognition of the importance of the profession, the report says there is no national strategy to promote self-care and job-based care.

This is a topic that is increasingly on the radar of organisations such as the Chartered Society of Professional Accountants (CSPA), which are promoting a ‘social enterprise’ model that involves offering paid time off for members of the workforce.CSPA chairman Paul Collier said: “Self-employment is a great way to get a foot in the door to a job, but it can be challenging for many people to manage their finances, so it is important for employers to be aware of their responsibilities.”

In the UK the average salary of a professional was £47,900, up from £43,000 in 2010, according to the Society of Business and Professional Development.

Profession training has become a vital part of our economy, as the average UK salary was £50,700 in 2020, according the CSPA.

In the United States, where the economy has boomed, the average income for a professional rose by more than 80 per cent between 2010 and 2020, while the rate of people in full-time jobs increased by about 10 per cent.

But not everyone has the same experience of being in a job.

The CSPA is asking the Government to set up a taskforce to look at the role of the professional sector in the economy.CSRA chairperson Kate Farr told New Scientist: “There are people who are not making a living at the moment who want to be professional.”

There are those who are in full time jobs and have to take time off to take care of their families and care for their sick child, and they are looking for ways to do this.

“But it is not all bad news.

There are more people in the profession than ever before.

The survey found that a third of the people in jobs requiring professional skills had a job offer and were looking for an employer.

More than half said that they were looking to be a professional in the next year, and almost half of those who said they were not in a career were looking elsewhere.

The report also found that almost two-thirds of people who were employed had experienced job insecurity.

The authors of the report say that this could be a key reason why more people are turning to self-service.”

It is likely that many of the more insecure professions are those where people are not necessarily employed or are on a part-time basis,” they said.”

However, many are not working in their current industry.
